A jet transporting the US defense secretary was compelled to make an emergency landing in the United Kingdom on Wednesday after a crack was discovered in the aircraft's cockpit window, according to an announcement which verified that Hegseth was safe.
"The plane landed in accordance with established safety measures and all individuals on the flight, among them Pete Hegseth, is secure," a press officer commented in a online announcement.
The secretary was coming back from a short visit to Brussels during the flight.
This event isn't the first occasion that a United States armed forces jet transporting a top government figure has experienced equipment failures.
Earlier this year, a US Air Force plane ferrying Secretary of State Marco Rubio to Munich was required to return to Washington after suffering a mechanical fault.
